Sinnsreachd is a movement that is about the people- long dead, currently living, and yet unborn- and focuses its methodology and efforts in that vein. We honor our ancestors by living in a way we feel is appropriate to the pact that they made, and we work in the present to build the future we want for our children and their children. Understanding this concept, it is little surprise that we are concerned with the long-term survival and prosperity of our way of life, and chief among our efforts are those projects and programs that achieve this end. The two greatest problems the Sinsearaithe face today are a lack of prosperity, as individuals and as a people, that would allow them to live by our traditions, and the overarching problem of the Diaspora, the scattered nature of our people. Tionscnamh Aontacht agus Rathúnas, the Unity and Prosperity Initiative, is an umbrella program under which many other projects fall that seek to reverse the Diaspora and bring prosperity to our people from within.
First, let us focus on the Unity branch of the program. Gaelic people, whether Sinnsreachd or not, have always been and always will be stubbornly independent. No empire, army, law, religion, or genocidal campaign has ever forced them to conform to that which they do not wish to conform. Thus, it is important to understand that the Unity branch of Tionscnamh Aontacht agus Rathúnas is not aimed at homogenizing our people into a single mindset. Rather, it is intended to create solidarity, to help tuatha that already exist consolidate their resources, acquire and develop fintiu (communal agricultural land owned by the tuath and used for a variety of purposes), establish Sinnsreachd gaeilscoileanna (bilingual schools that teach equally in Gaelic and English), and to foster the creation, patronage, and growth of new tuatha worldwide.
The Prosperity branch of the program is no less important, and ties directly into the creation of a greater internal unity within the tuatha of the ACTG and the Sinnsreachd movement in general. A people can dream great and wondrous dreams, but the practical application of their ambitions is limited by the scope of their wealth. Our people wage a constant internal war between their desire to uphold their traditions and follow their way of life and faith, and the need for the necessities of life to provide for their families. The Prosperity branch of Tionscnamh Aontacht agus Rathúnas is aimed at helping our people do both at the same time. By fostering internal industries, businesses, and crafts, as well as educating the Sinsearaithe about financial management, the Prosperity branch of Tionscnamh Aontacht agus Rathúnas is aimed at ensuring that our people have the wealth they need within the culture and faith they seek to maintain.
An Cónaidhm na dTuath Gaelach has in place two initial programs within this Initiative. Each of these programs focuses on an important element of both the Unity and Prosperity branches of Tionscnamh Aontacht agus Rathúnas, with a great deal of overlap between them. They are meant to be guidelines and resources for ACTG member tuatha and any interested Sinnsreachd tuath to use for their intended purposes.
An Clár Forbartha Pobail (Community Development Program)- Resources and guidelines to help tuatha establish physical communities, focusing on agrarian communities, but also having resources for more urban-based tuatha.
An Clár Forbartha Fiontraíochta (Enterprise Development Program)- Resources and guidelines to help tuatha establish businesses and industries, whether owned by the tuath as a whole, or by individual Sinsearaithe.
